To travel on a budget can be very daunting and challenging at the same time. Thinking of how to go to a place without the right budget can be tricky, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t do it. If others can travel even if the budget is not enough, then why can’t you?
Aside from planning the trip around off-peak travel times and scouting for good deals, there are more tricks on how to travel even if you are on a budget:
Why not try a hostel
This one is actually pretty obvious since staying in hotels, resorts and even rental homes can be more expensive than staying in a hostel. If you are a backpacker, you will be getting the authentic backpacker experience together with lifelong memories.
There are different types of hostels such as part hostels, exotic hostels, relaxing hostels, and so on. A good advantage when staying in such a place is that they have a common area where you can even meet other tourists, and you may end up finding someone to share dinner, transportation, and even day trips.
Venture to the not so popular places
If you visit popular tourist places, there is a good chance to spend more because a lot of tourists also visit that place. But you can actually go anywhere and make that place memorable too. You meet people along the way and find great foods that are not that expensive especially if it is not in a tourist spot.
Souvenirs are overrated
You don’t actually have to buy souvenirs every stop you make. Seriously! Bringing a lot of touristy items will just eat up your budget. Instead, focus on the memories you can create while you are on your trip and not on the material things you can possess while you are there.
